Chapter 2: Part I
Amaya:
I looked into the steamy bathroom mirror and glanced at the bruises on the sides of my stomach. I grazed them with my fingers and winced in pain. The bruises were big and mixed with a color of black and purple. Tears began to stream down my face. How could he do this to me? How could he do this to us? I can’t have this baby in this type of environment. I wiped my own tears away since I didn’t have a real man to wipe them away for me. I had to get myself and this unborn baby out of here. I wrapped myself in a towel and walked out of the bathroom.
I put on some clothes and looked out the bedroom window. My heart came to ease when I didn’t see his car in the driveway.
Quickly I grabbed an empty luggage and started packing all my stuff.
I packed everything and headed down stairs. Grabbed the car keys from the kitchen and started to head to the front door. I stopped in my tracks when I heard keys jangling with the door lock.
No..no…please don’t come in. The door swung open and there he was standing with a dozen roses and his keys in the other hand. Did he really think that roses would help me forgive him? His smile faded away once he saw the luggage in my hand. I set the luggage down next to where I was standing.
“You leaving me?” He said clenching his jaw.
“No…..no...” I said with tears forming around my eyes. He slowly started to walk towards me.
“You wanna leave me?” He said growing angrier with each step he took.
I shook my head no and began to walk backwards. I took off running down the hallway once I was in front of it. I heard him running after me, I began to run up the stairs but I tripped over one and fell. I felt a pair of big hands wrap around my right ankle. He turned my body around and I kicked him in his face repeatedly with my other foot. But he wouldn’t let go. Roughly he dragged me down the wooden stairs.
With every step my head banged against it. He threw me onto the floor once he dragged me off the stairs. I could barely see anything because of the tears that were streaming down my face.
I placed my hand over my stomach which was giving me so much pain. Lord, please don’t let me loose this baby. He took a hold of my hair and wrapped it around his arm. He dragged me back into the living room and let go of me.
I felt a gust of wind blown onto my back. I turned around to see the balcony doors open. Roughly he picked me up and threw me onto the balcony.
“So you wanna leave me huh?” He said kicking me into my back. Tears were streaming down my face. I felt weak and worthless. I couldn’t fight back, he’s too strong. He clutched onto my shoulders and hoisted me up in front of his face.
“Do you love me?” He yelled into my face.
“Why should I love you when you beat me” I said within my sniffles.
