Chapter 10
Javaughn:
My phone buzzed which interrupted the deep slumber I was in. Groaning, I turned over to receive my phone. Pressing the home button, the time read 6:15. I had a text message from Chrystal. Now why in the hell is she texting me at six in the morning. With annoyance I unlocked my phone and read the text. It was about the lawsuit back in LA. To be honest, I didn’t want to be bothered with this shit early in the morning. I just wanted to sleep, turning back over Amaya slept peacefully. Resting my head in the plush white pillow I wrapped my long arm around her lower waist. Having to sleep alone at night ain’t the best. In minutes, I was falling back asleep.

Two hours later.
Chrystal only gave me two more hours of sleep from the first text she sent earlier. It was 8:30 in the morning and I was going through my emails. The lawyers we had and Chrystal were sending emails and updating me on the case. To sum up everything, a few months ago my dads business in Michigan had a client that wanted their store renovated. Being diligent, Chrystal decided to take on the job and do it for a price lower than what we usually offer. Even though we did a ‘great job’ as the clients say, they decide to turn back around and sue the business claiming ‘we didn't do our job and they weren't satisfied with the finish product and that we refused to fix it’. As long as I have been working with this business, we had never had a lawsuit or a problem with any of our clients. But all of a sudden, everything goes downhill. I refuse to lose this case and ruin the reputation of our business, and I won’t allow it to happen.
All of the chaos between the lawsuit and the busy schedules were driving me crazy. Getting out of the bed, I placed my phone on the nightstand and went into the bathroom. I washed my face and brushed my teeth. When I walked out the bathroom Amaya was still sleeping so I decided to go check on Cameron. To my surprise, he was sitting up Indian style on the bed.
“Good morning lil man, you hungry?” I said sitting on the bed next to him. If I was hungry I knew he would be too, Who knows how long he’s been up.
“Yes…I want pancakes!” He exclaimed with excitement. I smiled and picked him up.
“Well pancakes it is. But you gotta help me make it. Does mommy like pancakes?” I questioned. I knew he was only three but he knew how to talk and respond well.
“Yeah, she likes pancakes.” He said smiling and nodding his head at the same time.
Walking out of the guest bedroom we made it into the kitchen. The sun was shining through the windows. October was ending and November is right around the corner. Hopefully I can go back home to Michigan and visit the family for the holidays. My mom, aunts, uncles, and cousins were all up north. I had Cameron on the counter between the dishwasher and refrigerator. He was mixing the pancake mix and I was beating the eggs in a bowl next to him. Amaya probably makes pancakes with him very often because he knew what he was doing. The stove was on and ready for the pancakes to be made.
Within thirty minutes breakfast was ready. I prepared Amaya’s plate first, I put two pancakes, eggs, two sausage links, and a small bowl of fruits on the side. To top it off I poured a glass of orange juice and placed a strawberry one the rim of it. While I was making breakfast I gave Cameron the first two pancakes and sausages with a cup of milk. Because of my big appetite, I put five pancakes, eggs, four sausage links, and a glass of orange juice for myself. Placing the food and drinks on a tray, I took Cameron of the counter and we made our way back to my bedroom. Walking in, Amaya was laying down in bed on her phone. I put the tray on the dresser below the flat screen and leaned over the bed to kiss her cheek.
“Good morning.” I spoke. A small smile erupted on her face, she locked her phone and placed it on the night stand. Cameron climbed onto the bed and made his way over to her and wrapped his arms around her neck.
“We made you breakfast.” I said sitting on the edge of the bed looking at them.
“Yeah mommy, we made pancakes!” Cameron said.
“Oh, is that right? It smells great.” She said looking at me and blushing. Putting Cameron down she got up from the bed and went into the bathroom.
“The extra toothbrushes are in the left drawer by the sink.” I said loud enough for her to hear.
"I know." She said walking towards the bathroom.
I heard the water going so I guess she found them.
While she was in there I took the time to get the tray and place it on the bed. Within two minutes she came back out and sat next to me on the bed. She kissed my cheek causing me to turn towards her.
“Thank you.” She spoke softly. Placing my finger underneath her chin I leaned in to peck her lips. She gave in and kissed me back.
“Ew mommy, no kissing!” Cameron said causing us to back off and look at him. He had his little hands placed over his eyes. Once the laughter died down, I turned on the T.V. to keep Cameron occupied while we ate.

Amaya:
I found it sweet of Javaughn to make breakfast for Cameron and I. Of course it would be pancakes, boy did Cam love him some pancakes. While we were eating I would look at Javaughn from the corner of my eye. Before I noticed the boy had five pancakes on his plate! My goodness, he had a big appetite. The television was on and Cameron had his eyes glued on it, Javaughn did too. I finished my breakfast and sipped on my orange juice that had a strawberry on the rim of the glass, that was so cute.
I waited for Javaughn to finish his food so I could wash the dishes for him. I mean that’s the least I could do. Getting off the bed I took all the dishes and put them on the tray and then taking them into the kitchen. I set the tray on the counter and began to clean the dishes. I hated washing dishes but it needed to be done. Thinking about last night made me smile a bit. Every time we kissed it was like sparks went through my body. And the way he would lightly graze his fingers against my soft skin. I craved for his touch.
I heard light footsteps behind me so I guessed it was Javaughn. His hands wrapped around my waist, the one thing I was craving. Just to be in his arms makes me feel safe. I feel happy and not judged on my appearance. Yes I don’t have gorgeous long hair, we’ll not anymore, I don’t have the most beautiful body in the world. But one thing I can say is that my eyes are pretty. That’s really it.
”What are you thinking about?” He asked in a low voice. I contemplated on if I should tell him. But why should I hide a minor situation?
"Last night." I said without any hesitation.
"Oh.." He spoke with a chuckle at the end and released his arms around me. A smirk appeared on my face. Finishing up the dishes I put them in the dishwasher. Wiping down the counter, I faced toward Javaughn. We stared at each other for a while before he motioned me to come over.
“I only stopped us last night so things wouldn’t be rushed.” I said lowly. As much as I enjoyed every little thing, I’m not even sure what we are.
“I know, I hope you weren’t uncomfortable.” He said looking into my eyes.
“I wasn’t… I was comfortable, very, very comfortable.” I said smiling.
“Well good.” He said returning a smile but more like a smirk. Kissing me on my cheek we went back into the bedroom and laid together.
Just the three of us, watching a movie. To be honest it was relaxing, it felt like we were actually a family. Maybe if things progress, we will be. But what am I even doing? I barely know this man I’m laying with, he barely even knows me. We’re acting as if we’re a couple..when we aren’t. Not even close to being one. I began to get frustrated, I needed to leave his place. Roughly I got out of the bed and went to where my clothes were located. I stripped out of the clothes I slept in and tried to put on my necklace.
“Amaya, what’s wrong?” Javaughn said stopping the process of me putting on my clothes. I ignored him and fiddled with the necklace I had in my hands. For some odd reason the latch wouldn’t come apart. He walked closer to me and tried to help.
“Stop it Javaughn..I don’t need your help.” I said raising my voice a bit.
“Yes you do and don’t raise your voice at me, I’m trying to help.” He said harshly. Grabbing the necklace from my hands he went behind me to put it on. I only had my thong and a strapless bra on my body. He then grabbed my dress and gave it to me to put on. Taking my shoes, he bent down and strapped them onto my feet. Not a word was said, I was beginning to feel guilty….but for what?

Javaughn:
Amaya was mad for no apparent reason. We were laying in bed with Cameron watching a movie and she just jumped up and stormed into the closet. I’m beyond confused and mad at the fact she’s leaving. She even had the nerve to raise her voice at me.
“Come on Cameron, lets go get your clothes.” I said to him so he could follow me. Without any questions he did. Once we reached the room he slept in I began to put on his clothes.
“Are we going somewhere?” He said in a quiet voice. I took a deep breathe and began to speak.
“Naw lil man, you and mommy are going home.” I said so he could understand.
“But I don’t wanna leave..I want to stay here with you.” He said with a pouty face. I sat him on the edge of the bed while I placed myself on one knee to be eye level with him.
“I know, I want you to also. But mommy wants to leave.” I said as I began to tie the laces on his little Converse shoes.
“But I don’t wanna!” He said. I could see the tears about to emerge from his eyes. It hurt to see him cry just because he didn’t want to leave. But it wasn’t my fault and there’s nothing I could do. I took him into my arms. Picking him up I walked us to the door where Amaya was standing by. I grabbed my keys to the condo with Cameron still in my arms and we walked out to the parking garage. When we got to the car she unlocked it and I buckled Cameron into his car seat.
“Bye Javaughn” Cameron said with sadness in his voice.
“Bye lil man, imma miss you.”
“Me too.” He said with a small smile on his face. I gave him a high five and closed the door. Amaya stood there with her arms crossed looking at me.
“What’s wrong?”
“Nothing Javaughn...”
“Apparently it’s something if you just get up and want to leave. Amaya….just talk to me. Please?” I said.
“No..we don’t need to talk.” She said with a curt tone.
“Just answer one question. Did I do anything wrong?” I spoke. She looked down and shook her head no. Then she got into her car and started it. I tapped on the window so she could open it. When she did, I took the chance to kiss her on her cheek. After that, she was gone.
