Chapter 14:
Amaya:
"Bye Mel..." I said watching her walk through the airport doors. I sighed and wiped a tear from my eye as I held Cameron in my arms, who was still asleep.
I started to walk to my car while Corahn followed behind. I was still confused on why he was in Mel's room this morning, but I guess I'll ask her on a later date. Once I got to the car I strapped Cameron in and got in the front to start the car. I rolled my eyes at the sight of Corahn and started to pull out of the parking lot. I turned up the radio and we rode in silence.
After about ten minutes I couldn't take the silence anymore.
"Can I ask you a question Corahn?"
"You already did." he smiled.
"Wow. But no why were you in my sister's room last night, I thought you and Chrishelle were together?"
"Nah me and Chrishelle broke up way before I met y'all."
"Really."
"Yeah and when me and Melanie started to be something, Chrishelle says she pregnant, I swear I was gonna tell Melanie but she found out from Chrishelle.."
"Oh, why'd y'all break up?"
"You ask a lot of questions huh?"
"Sorry."
"Nah you're good. But we broke up because our relationship is real toxic, like we met when we were freshman but we we're both wild and trynna have fun so it was nothing serious at the time, but you know she really liked me I liked her too or whatever, but we we're both too controlling over each other and we had a lot of personal problems it wasn't good for our relationship."
"I'm sorry."
"Yeah and plus the baby isn't even mine, she went to the doctor the other day... when we we're 'trying to work things out' a few months ago I guess she was cheating on me. It's funny too because she broke it off with me because she said I was cheating." He said with a light laugh.
"Damn, but you wanna grab some breakfast or something?"
"Nah if you could take me back to campus that would be cool."
"Yeah alright." I nodded turning onto the expressway towards USC.
After about fifteen minutes I arrived in front of the campus apartments that Javaughn, Corahn, and Chrishelle lived in.
"Okay I'll see you later Amaya, thanks for this ride..."
"No problem see you Corahn."
"Bye little man." He said waving to Cameron and closing the car door.
Once I saw him walk into the building I drove off heading back home.

Three Days Later:
As I put the key Javaughn gave me for the day into the doorknob I released a breathe of air. Yes I have a key to his house, I guess you could say we're together now, though he hasn't asked his basically said it by giving me this key. I walked into Javaughn’s place to see him tying Cameron’s shoelaces. It looked as if they were going out.
"You were gonna go out without me?" I said placing my bag down onto one of the living room chairs.
"Well, yeah. I mean I didn’t know what time you would be back. So I figured it would just be me and Cameron." Javaughn said getting up off the floor and walking over to me.
He placed a gentle kiss on my cheek and gave me a hug.
"And how would you go out with Cameron when you don’t have the proper car?" I asked laughing at Javaugh and his ‘plans’. Clearly he didn’t think things through.
"I was gonna have him sit in the front seat of my Audi." Javaughn said bluntly. My mouth opened in shock.
“Yeah Mommy! I was gonna be in the front and go vroom-vroom!” Cameron said with excitement imitating the sound of a car.
"Really Javaughn. That’s unsafe." I said shaking my head in disapproval. He shrugged his shoulders and laughed. Walking over to Cameron I picked him up and planted kisses all over his face.
"Mommy. Sto-stop!" He said in between giggles. Eventually I stopped and placed him down. Today has been a long day and I was ready to go to bed. I sat on the couch Javaughn had in front of the television. He took a seat next to me and wrapped his arm around my shoulders.
“I was thinking that we could take Cameron to the Museum and then go to the movies afterwards.” Javaughn spoke into my ear. Even though I was tired I wanted to spend time with Cameron and have fun. I mean it couldn’t hurt to spend a day with my son and a ‘friend’.
“That sounds like a plan. I’m down.” I said getting up from the couch and fixing my clothes. Good thing I dressed comfortably this morning coming to Javaughn’s place. Grabbing my bag I began to head to the front door and Javughn carried Cameron on the way out. I made sure I locked the door correctly and all three of us made our way to the parking garage.

Melanie:
For the past week I have been staying at a friend's house, catching up since high school, but I decided it was time I go and see my parents and tell them about this. Yes I was scared, mainly because when Amaya got pregnant after graduation my parents basically disowned her for a month, leaving her to have to go live with that monster. I shivered at the thought of that man. Within twenty minutes I arrived to my parents place. My father’s car wasn’t out front so I assumed he was at the office doing his shift. Turning off the car, I grabbed the keys to my moms place and walked up to the large brown doors. Walking into the home, it reminded of me and Amaya's younger days. My mother kept the same furniture.
“Ma! It’s Melanie! Where are you?” I called out loudly walking into the formal dining room. Glancing around she wasn’t in here. She spent most of her time in the kitchen so I decided to check there. Walking into the kitchen she wasn’t there either. ‘Where is this lady?’ I questioned to myself.
“Melanie?” I heard my mother’s voice and quickly turned around. There she was with a glass of wine in her hand smiling. We embraced in a hug and I gave her a weak smile.
She walked over to the refrigerator and pulled out a mini tub of Haagen Daz ice cream and a spoon from the drawer. She placed both of the items in front of me and motioned me to sit on one of the stools she had in front of the island.
“Talk.” She said standing on the opposite of the island I was sitting on.
Opening the cover on the ice cream I began to eat the tasty Creme Brulee ice cream. I didn’t want to sugar coat anything with my mother and decided to just tell her flat out.
“I'm pregnant I planned to have an abortions a few weeks ago but Amaya talked me out of it...” I didn’t have the courage to look up to my mother but instead I kept my eyes low. I know what I have done and didn’t need anyone to mortify me.
“Melanie…why would you do something like that?” She asked curiously.
"I didn't do it mom, I just thought about it."
"Who is the father?"
"This guy I met a few months ago."
"Months...Really Melanie, just giving it to anyone huh? I'm still surprised to this day how Amaya got pregnant and you didn't back in high school."
"What are you trying to say?" I sighed.
“Well, I’m not happy for what you have done. But.. Melanie. You have to speak with your father, before it’s too late.”
“I understand that mom, but it’s hard.” I spoke with a raised voice. I knew I had to tell him but I needed space.
“I know that it is hard my love. But you have to do what you have to do.” She spoke genuinely. I got up from the stool and gave her a warm hug. I loved my mom for everything that she has done.

Corahn:
I sat in silence on my couch, the TV was on mute, and I just stared at the ceiling. I don't really know how I'm feeling right now, sad, depressed, angry? I'm not sure. I rubbed my hand across my face in frustration and got up to get my phone off the charger. No missed calls from her. Damn she done gone off and forgot about me. I sat back on the couch and dialed her number.
"Hello?" She answered.
"Hey stranger."
"Hey Corahn what are you doing?"
"Thinking about you..."
"Yeah right."
"When you comin back though... I mean you been gone just about a month, you had your vacation, now come back."
She laughed into the phone. "That's funny Corahn."
"What?"
"I'm not here on vacation, I'm here to stay, at least until I have this baby." She sighed.
"Without me?"
The line got quiet and I heard her shuffling around in the background.
"No not without you I mean I'm due in July so you can come down here then I guess."
"Damn."
"What?"
"I just feel like we're hella dysfunctional."
She laughed again this time bluntly. "Wow Corahn we started this dysfunctional relationship the minute I had sex with you, and also the minute you decided not to use a condom, so don't call this shit dysfunctional when you made the decision for us." She yelled.
"I'm sorry. I really am."
The line got quiet again and I sighed.
"When can I come down there, and you show me around your city?"
"December." She said and the line clicked.
"Hello?" I moved the phone from my ear and it showed the call had been disconnected.
